On Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at about 4:45pm Engine 1 and Tanker 1 with 8 members of Soddy-Daisy FD and an Engine from Lewis Chapel VFD respond to Poe Road on a mutual aid call for Mowbray Volunteer Fire Department on a house fire.
Mowbray FD arrived at the fire as SD Engine 1 started up the mountain and had made a quick attack on the fire in the kitchen which was spreading to the roof. They did a good knock down and had it under control about the time SDFD arrived. The home did receive major damage but the most of the contents were saved.
Good job Mowbray.
Tanker 1 was released to return to Soddy Daisy and the crew from Engine 1 assisted with pull down and mop up.
At about 2:00am SDFD was toned out again for a "Rekindle" of the fire on Poe Road. Engine 1 and Tanker 1 again responded with about the same staffing. The house was nearly destroyed with fire involving all areas of the house.
