On Hwy. 111 an 18 wheeler ran into the rear of another as they were going down the hill. The crash was not in the City of Soddy-Daisy but the Soddy-Daisy Fire Department was the only First Responder unit available. The Soddy-Daisy Police also responded to the crash that was first reported to be in the city. SDPD assisted Hamilton County Sheriffs Officers and the Tennessee Highway Patrol arrived to take over investigation of the crash.
The truck in the rear hit the trailer of a truck caring rock. The truck coming from behind struck so hard the engine and other parts of the truck were scattered along the highway. The entire front of the truck was crushed but somehow the driver received only minor injuries. The driver of the lead truck was not injured.
